Scott Boocock is a passionate Australian entrepreneur and presenter – on television and in the public forum. His moment of inspiration occurred in 2012 while hanging out the washing. How, he wondered, can you hang a delicate item (especially, in this instance, a classy dress belonging to his wife) while leaving no peg, line, or sun marks? The answer the HEG™. It’s a peg, with hooks. Scott designed it, manufactured it, and patented it. The HEG went on to win the ‘Housewares and Objects’ category at the 2014 Good Design Awards in Sydney – a contest rewarding Australian and international companies for their design excellence and innovation. HEGS Australia was also successful on Australia’s Channel 10 Shark Tank television show, inspiring inventors everywhere to believe that with perseverance and courage they, too, can make their dreams come true. This is Scott’s story. And it’s not just about a self-made man with a strong streak of creativity who revolutionised the way we hang out the washing. In a colourful and often daring career, he’s floated a raft-load of successful business ventures an event management company, a car wash, an internet café in Alaska, a transportable toilet enterprise, opal selling at sea, and even an ice-skating rink in Alice Springs. Naturally, as it’s a Scott Boocock initiative, there’s something special about the ice rink. This one, you see, operated in the middle of the Australian summer in the middle of the desert; and it worked an absolute treat, creating an entirely new experience for many people who had never seen anything quite like it before. What’s more, he directs his boundless energies to helping those less fortunate in life. Scott has been the project development director for Sunrise Children’s Villages in Cambodia and founder of the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s branch in Australia’s Northern Territory along with many years working with juveniles on behalf of the Northern Territory Department of Correctional Services. Scott’s story is one of personal adventure, as well as corporate triumph. He has travelled through more than 80 countries, spent a year in Sweden as an exchange student, another year in the mountains of Japan, worked as chief purser for a cruise company and as general manager of the Alice Springs Convention Centre, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, kayaked across Glacier Bay in Alaska, and ridden as a member of a motorbike team competing in the Australian Safari. Back, though, to the moment of inspiration when hanging out the washing in 2012. It changed his life – so his life story makes fascinating reading. And its message has the power to change the lives of anyone who reads it.

I enjoyed this book very much. I read it over the course of two evenings ... when I finished, I wanted to immediately go out and invent something and start selling it. Scott is a motivator. Not just in his words but in his actions as well. He's not just talking it ... he's walking it. At only 128 pages long, I'll bet there's a lot more to Scott's story ... maybe those stories will be told in his next book? Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for business and life motivation ... which I suppose would include just about everyone!Product details

Scott Boocock The Aussie Innovator Mr Scott Boocock 9780646952468 Books Reviews
Fun and easy read with an insight to Scotts inspirational and motivational way of being. A great life adventure, so far - showing that a 'Can do' attitude will get you through many of the ups and downs that life throws at you. Looking forward to the next chapter.
ps the HEG was a stroke of genius that certainly made my wife happier!
This is the kind of book you need to read and digest, and in addition to that, preserve a copy or two for your children. Scott clearly demonstrated through his writing, how one can use the power of positive thinking, creativity and resilience to create a good life for him/her self and others . I highly recommend this book to anyone, anyday
What a fantastic journey Scott shares, he is in so many ways the quintessential Aussie Innovator. He has fought to grow his business step-by-step against incredible odds and it's great to read more about his life story. Scott brings his story to life with a vivid enthusiasm and a very honest walk-through of his life experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the read and thanks Scott for the mention!
If you ever wanted to know how to talk to people AND make your idea the next best thing, then read Scott's book. In a very Aussie style he tells his story in such a way that you believe you too can do this!
Inspirational! Scott shows that when you have the guts, ambition, drive and attitude that anything is possible. Take the leap! I look forward to reading what comes next and what lessons are learned. Fun read.
This is a great story and an inspiring book! Scott's background is really unique and he tells it in a way which makes you want to be more innovative in your own life. Definitely worth reading, highly recommended
This is the 'how to' of anything innovative. I always wonder how something that wasn't 'a thing' yesterday suddenly becomes 'a thing' today. It's never an overnight success story ... but Scott's almost is.
To read the story of how this innovator went from start to dominating the world with a simple little peg is just inspiring.
I finished and put the book down ... my son (23 years old) picked it up and read it too.
Easy read with detail of the processes and thoughts behind the drive.
Highly recommended
